Interim school superintendent Dan Lowengard resigned yesterday.
He had a stroke last week after being on the job for only four days. He will be returning to his home in Syracuse to recuperate.
Fortunately, the City of Rochester won't be stuck with Lowengard's bills or paying him off.
Linda Cimusz, who Lowengard hired as chief of staff during his four days on the job, will replace him as interim school superintendent. She was approved unanimously by the cretins who make up Rochester's school board.
That's three superintendents in less than three weeks.
That Cimusz has the confidence of Lowengard is unimportant, since his tenure as school superintendent had the brevity of the lifespan of a fruit fly.
Rochester's liberal newsrag, the D&C, states that Cimusz said she intends to follow through on the vision that Lowengard laid out, whatever the Hell that is supposed to mean.
Nobody in Rochester knew what Lowengard's visions or hallucinations were.
Cimusz, a stranger to Rochester, isn't interested in any long term appointment to oversee the school district.
Given the shitty state of Rochester's public schools, that's probably the wisest decision Cimusz will make.
It will also be a profitable one: $30,000 per month for six months.
Of course, we will still be paying off Vargas for the unexpired portion of his contract.
In the meantime, the cretins who comprise Rochester's school board will be searching for a permanent superintendent of schools. Someone who they can control and heap the blame on for all of their failures. Someone who can talk big, smile for the cameras, collect his or her salary and ultimately depart, leaving the city's public schools in exactly the same shitty state it is now.

Vargas, Urbanski AND the School Board should all go.
It seems odd that Adam Urbanski, head of the Rochester teachers' union, is blaming the resignation of Superintendent Bolgen Vargas for chaos that has supposedly and suddenly erupted in the city's schools.
That chaos has been going on for a very long time.
Perhaps Urbanski never noticed.
Urbanski is now demanding Vargas' immediate dismissal, as though that will change anything.
Urbanski isn't asking for the dismissal of the School Board, the third component in Rochester's shitty public school system. He can't. Equally moronic voters keep putting them back lamenting the sad state of affairs in the city schools at the same time, reinforcing the definition of stupid.
Which is why Mayor Warren herself won't entrust the education of her child to them. No intelligent parent of some means would.
The urban poor have no such choice. They must send their children to schools that prepare most of them for nothing but low paying jobs and lives of crime, since most never make it through school. Most of Rochester's school children are functionally illiterate, whether they graduate or not.
That's hardly a selling point for Rochester.
As for Urbanski picking on Vargas, that also seems odd. They have so much in common.
Neither are native born Americans; neither has ever learned to speak English properly; both came to America at about the same age, although decades apart; both have been less concerned about Rochester's schools or the kids than they have been about feathering their own nests.
As for the School Board, they have a comfortable part time job that will do until a more lucrative political position opens up for them. That is why the incumbents usually run for re-election and win, thanks to the incredibly stupid voters and bleeding heart liberal media who insist they need to be there, never mind their abject failure.
It is all bullshit. People have been brainwashed.
Vargas should have gone long ago. So should have Urbanski. Since the School Board won't voluntarily fall on their own swords, that body needs to be eliminated entirely.
That's right. Send all of those bastards packing. They've had their fun.
I am no great fan of Mayor Warren, but I believe the time has come to institute mayoral control of Rochester's schools. She couldn't do any worse than these so-called professionals have been doing for the last forty years. And she already has Allen Williams on staff to act as her chancellor.

Rochester's School Board rejects Dr. Vargas' offer.
Rochester Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bolgen Vargas offered to drop his lawsuit against the School Board.
That suggests Vargas has a weak case, especially since it would have left the School Board's ruling intact.
That ruling stripped Vargas of some of his powers as superintendent.
In exchange, the School Board would extend his contract by two years. It expires next year.
That suggests that Vargas thinks the School Board is stupider than they are.
It is not the deal of the century, especially since they can't get along with each other.
I doubt that the School Board is entertaining notions of growing any older with Vargas at the helm of their sinking ship. They were probably not going to renew his contract when it expired at the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.
So the School Board rejected Vargas' offer.
Vargas must now wait until April 4 to file his lawsuit against the School Board.
If he plans on pursuing the matter.
It won't shore up what's left of his reputation, but winning a lawsuit might just help his bank account.
There will be a lot of monkey business going on behind the scenes until that date.
Regardless of what happens, the Rochester City School District will still muddle along at the bottom of the barrel.

The inept superintendent of schools is suing the equally inept school board.
Dr. Bolgen Vargas is suing the Rochester School Board because he claims their recent attempted actions were a unilateral rewriting of his contract without his consent. Vargas' attorney said this would hamper his ability to perform his job.
That is an odd statement.
Neither Vargas nor the school board has been doing much of a job, except to preside over the worst school district in the state.
It is also one of the worst in the entire nation.
That's quite an accomplishment.
They are not ashamed of it.
The action I am referring to is to eliminate some of his non-union employees, the Superintendent's Employment Group.
SEG is an extraneous, expensive group of parasites.
What is more, larger school districts, such as Buffalo, have made do with fewer such employees.
Since these are non-union employees, Adam Urbanski hasn't offered his opinion about it.
If the school board is worried, they have nobody but themselves to blame.
They appointed Vargas to his quarter of a million dollar job.
He makes roughly twice what the mayor does.
The school board makes less than ten percent what Vargas does, for twenty hours of work per year.
The school board is elected by the voters.
The voters elect them based on race and ethnic background.
And the voters keep on re-electing them, no matter how miserably they have failed.
Which means that the voters are plenty stupid. Birds of a feather.
It will be the voters who will pay the legal fees involved in the lawsuit.
Vargas is probably looking to feather his nest before the axe falls and mayoral control of the schools is instituted.
Then, out he goes.
Why keep on a known and notable failure when mayoral control will be a controversial enough undertaking?
Or maybe Vargas is just looking to force the school board to buy out his contract.
He sat on the school board when they bought out Superintendent Janey's contract years ago.
Perhaps he learned something from that experience. Perhaps he's not as stupid as he usually sounds.
Vargas isn't answering any questions. He's allowing his attorney, Steve Modica, to do all of the talking for him.
That was a wise move,
