The continued fuss over I-Square.

Most Rochesterians are a pretty apathetic lot.
This week we had three murders within a twenty four hour period. This is on top of other shootings that occur regularly in our fair city.
No public outcry.
A major heroin trafficking ring was broken this week.
No public jubilation.
Yesterday, camera hog Reverend Lewis Stewart tried to stir up the black community about a man who died after being tasered last year.
No real public interest and perfunctory coverage by the media.
But the fuss over I-Square has been continuing daily for over a week.
One wonders why.
All politicians are liars. Their profession guarantees that it can hardly be otherwise. That includes Republicans, Demagogues and third parties. That includes black, white and Hispanic politicians. That includes men and women.
Most people don't trust them at any time, so why all the uproar when they are found to behave unethically this time when they have been doing so for years? And still getting elected.
COMIDA is in bed with the Monroe County GOP. That they would share privileged information with GOP big shits should have been no surprise to anyone.
The porcine Bill Reilich, Grand Diabolarch of the Monroe County GOP,  took a political pot shot at Irondequoit Demagogue Adam Bello, revealing that he was privy to such information about I-Square.
The developers of I-Square took exception to Reilich's rant and threatened a lawsuit.
Justin Roj, County Executive Cheryl DiNolfo's pet gopher, called in COMIDA's attorneys to back up Reilich's statement. It was not the other way around.
DiNolfo, in a couple of lackluster press conferences, tried to dodge the issue by saying a lot of nothing and ignoring questions.
District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced that her office would be conducting an "informal investigation." Doorley, a Republican, is not about to upset the applecart and offend Reilich, so not too much can be expected from that quarter.
Reilich got nervous and ordered DiNolfo to sacrifice her pet gopher by throwing him to the wolves and blaming him for lying.
DiNolfo proceeded to do just that, and demanded Roj's resignation, saying that he lied to her about his involvement in the I-Square flap. Whether he did or didn't lie to her is irrelevant. DiNolfo and Reilich needed a victim to offer to the mob, and it wasn't going to be either of them.
Reilich then found it necessary to shoot off his big fat mouth again. To set the record straight. Which he didn't do. According to him, it was Justin Roj who blabbed the information to him, and he never requested it. He further stated that he thought it was public knowledge about I-Square, so what's all the fuss about? It's a lie. But he'll do anything to keep from roasting on a spit up his ass and an apple in his mouth, which is about the only thing that just might make him socially acceptable.
Had an apple been firmly placed in his mouth on March 18, he would never have been able to take his shot at Bello, and all of this could have been avoided.
But again, I ask, why does everybody find the I-Square flap so unique? It isn't.
One need only remember another Republican scandal from a few years back: ROBUTRAD. None of the big shits involved in that ever got caught and only the small fry were sacrificed to jail sentences, dismissals and fines.
Do Rochesterians really think this will end any differently?
I doubt it.
But it is always amusing to watch big shit politicians sweat it out when they get caught lying too much about things that don't matter. Even if it's only for a moment.
This is just business as usual.

The results of tonight's election means nothing will change in the Rochester area.

Andreas Rau compared tonight's election to the trench warfare of World War I.
After the smoke and poisoned gas cleared, and tens of thousands of bodies were moved out of the way, the battle lines had hardly changed at all.
So it was with tonight's election results.
Everyone had what they started out with before.
The Republicans still have the County Executive's office and dominance in, though not complete control of, the Monroe County Legislature.
Rochester's Black Demagogues held their own in the ghetto, while the Establishment Demagogues kept what they had, too.
The only exception to this is District Attorney Sandra Doorley. Originally starting out as a Republican, she first won election to that office as a Demagogue, only to convert back to the Republicans and win re election tonight under that party's banner.
The battle is over for this year.
And nothing has changed. Or will change. There is complete deadlock.

Who are the Democrats going to run against Doorley?

If anybody.
The pool of Democratic candidates for D.A. is small.
New MCDC chairman Dave Garretson was banking on former D.A. Mike Green running against Sandra Doorley.
That isn't going to happen.
Green said "no," leaving Garretson with egg on his face.
There's no news if Garretson has found any Democrat ( on paper, at least ) to run.
But then Garretson has never been successful in any campaigns he has run for himself or others.
Except for the office of chairman of the MCDC, which has proven to be a crown of thorns.
And he is totally unsuited for the office.
But he has a nice smile.
He'll need it if Doorley wins an uncontested race.

Former D.A. Mike Green might run against Sandra Doorley.

That is if MCDC chairman Dave Garretson has his way.
He is still reeling over Doorley's re-conversion to the Republican Party.
Garretson is hoping that having the former D.A. running against the current one will make the election lively.
He thinks that lively election campaigns bring out the voters, and most people in Monroe County are registered as Democrats.
Which doesn't explain why most of Monroe County is controlled by Republicans, including Garretson's own town of Greece.
It doesn't explain the piss-poor turnout during Rochester's mayoral campaign of 2013, which was lively if depressing.
That campaign was also enlivened by the underhanded tactics of Molly Clifford and her familiars.
What Garretson is counting on is a Green victory to punish Doorley for her defection from the Democrats.
Garretson is not asking the voters to judge Doorley or Green's records as D.A., merely their party affiliation.
The problem is that Green has said nothing about running. Or that he is even considering such a run.
Yet.
Garretson is doing all of the talking.
If Green chooses not to run, it will be yet another embarrassment for Garretson.
Garretson should be accustomed to those by now. They have been coming hard, fast and below the belt ever since he took over as MCDC chairman.
He is the one who needs Democratic victories.

Sandra Doorley's stupid call to reason.

The D&C printed a letter from Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley today.
In a nutshell, Doorley begged voters to look at the person, not at their party.
This comes a few days after Doorley converted back to the Republican Party.
She won her office as a Democrat.
This has caused consternation within an already chaotic MCDC.
Such disorder is not helpful to candidates seeking to win county offices.
Political affiliation, like religious affiliation, is a matter of personal choice. Factors influencing choice may be sentimental, spiritual, emotional, true belief or pragmatism and expedience.
When an affiliation ceases to serve the needs of an individual, it's time to move on.
Duffy and Richards both changed their party affiliations to become mayor of Rochester.
Doorley's plea for "person before party" should be regarded as a call to reason.
Voters should choose the best candidate for a political office, not one with impeccable party credentials. All too often, such persons tend to be morons, but they have the inside track.
And here the primitive and infantile condition of dynasties also has its place.
Unfortunately, Doorley's statement is a stupid one because it ignores the reality of the political system, especially in Rochester and Monroe County.
Both parties claim that their candidates are the best persons for the job.
Those people who do vote tend to vote a straight ticket. It absolves them from having to think.
Neither political party wants people to think about candidates. Party discipline demands that people blindly follow the dictates of the party leadership.
In districts where one party has a clear numerical superiority over the other, they will demand loyalty.
Where they are in the minority, they beg people to vote for the person and not the party.
This has rarely, if ever, worked here.
Especially when both parties have demonized each other.
A statement calling for common sense among voters is stupid because the whole system is nonsensical.
Which is why most people able to vote don't. If one politician is the same as another, regardless of party affiliation, why bother?
They weren't expecting anything beneficial from any of them.
And Doorley?
She wants to be re-elected at any cost.
There are more registered Democrats in Monroe County than Republicans, not that this has helped the county Democrats.
The whiny statement of the MCDC upon her departure from their fold has convinced Doorley to make her appeal. To mitigate her pissing them off.
It was a good one. But it was stupid.
